Tiger update
August 18th, 2007One of my earlier posts was about using tiger bone in TCM formulas. Acupuncture Today has an article in the current issue on the China’s proposition to lift the ban on tiger products. This really is something that doesn’t get enough press coverage as far as I’m concerned.
It is good to see these kinds of quotes from the Traditional Chinese Medicine community
TCM colleges no longer teach the use of tiger bone as medicine
It ties in to what I wrote about - that reducing consumer demand for tiger products is the best way forward.

I agree is shouldn’t be used. Many plant species are also becoming hard to find due to increased use.
However, I think students still need to be taught the old formulas, while learning the alternatives.
