Rest in peace – Chris Jarmey
November 17th, 2008I only just found out about this; being absorbed in my own life and not really being “in the loop” with a lot of other shiatsu people, but Chris Jarmey died on Novermber 9th 2008. Chris was the principal of the European School of Shiatsu – the school that I studied at for my last year of shiatsu training.
Chris Jarmey was very active in the shiatsu community in the UK – apart from setting up and running the ESS, he was a prolific writer and teacher. If you are in the “shiatsu world” in the UK, you have probably heard of Chris, maybe even used one of his books as a reference or source book for your course. He was one of the earliest proponents of shiatsu in the UK.
My own introduction to shiatsu came from Chris when I attended a basic two day course many years ago which he taught. I only met Chris a few times in the course of my shiatsu study, but it is a sad day when someone so prominent in the field dies.
My thoughts are with his family and friends. Rest in peace.
